There were three north-south strike-slip faults, namely, the Kalayuergun, Kangcun and Tugerming faults, in the W-E-stretching Kuqa fold-and-thrust belt. The recent study indicated that these faults segmented the Kuqa fold-and-thrust belt, especially the Qiulitage structural belts, into several parts, such as the Eastern Qiulitage, the Western Qiulitage and the Queletagh structural sectors. In addition, the lateral ramps played an important role in the structural segmentation, too. Many differences could be discovered among these structural sectors. The structural style of the Eastern Qiulitage sector was characterized by duplex in the deep and fault-propagation folding in the shallow, while the structure of the Western Qiulitage sector was controlled by the W-E strike-slip faulting, characterized in the transverse section by fault-propagation and gliding folds. The Queletagh structure was a typical gliding fold. As the reservoir being concerned, strike-slip faulting might be an important factor to destroy the accumunation of oil and gas, and the lateral ramp-related anticlines might be a new field for exploration in future.
