40Ar-39Ar AGE OF THE KALAGANG FORMATION VOLCANIC ROCKS IN WESTERN JUNGGAR,XINJIANG

The dating of three samples from the Kalagang Formation volcanic rocks in Sawuper region,western Junggar,Xinjiang,yielded an 40Ar-39Ar plateau age 283±2 Ma(2σ,dacite),40Ar-39Ar weighted mean age 281.2±3.0 Ma(2σ,basalt),and 40Ar-39Ar plateau age 280±2 Ma(2σ,rhyolite),respectively.The 40Ar-39Ar chronology indicated that the volcanic rocks erupted 283~280 Ma ago,which was product of Early Permian(Artinskian) volcanic activities.
