The radiolarite from the early Permian "Dangchong Bed" in Qujiang and Eenhua counties, Guangdong province is ascertained to be siliceous in composition. According to the genesis of the radiolarite, paleogeographieal changes and its relationship with the ore-formation and paleotectonics a preliminary discussion on the geological significance of the radiolarite is made in this paper. The. present authors are inclined to regard the radiolarite of "Dangchong Bed" in Qujiang and Benhua counties as primary deposit formed in the perishelf zone, i.e. under the bathyal conditions. As a result of the Variscian movement took place a gentle uplift or depression during the sedimentation of the "Dangchong Bed" in Qujiang and Eenhua counties.
