This paper deals with the dynamic stability of rock slopes. The results obtained by field measurements and laboratory experiments show that the effect of a dynamic force on the sliding process of rock slopes is dependent on the frequency of the vibration in rock mass. With the increase of frequency the effect of dynamic force is reduced. Accordingly, the dynamic effect is introduced as a factor into the stability analysis. Thus, the dynamic force may be transformed into the effective force, and it is regarded as being identical with the static load. This is a quasi-dynamic approach to stability analysis of rock slopes under the action of both of static and dynamic forces.
