Based on the method of the fault-striated stress field inversion, the extensional activity of Cretaceous extensional activity of Hefei Basin in the south of Tanlu fault zone was studied in detail and the evolution law of extension direction of it is clarified. The results show that from early-middle stage of the Early Cretaceous and late stage to Late Cretaceous, the tensile direction changed from NWW-SEE to NW-SEE to near SN, with clockwise rotation characteristic. Compared with the ocean plate movement direction in the western Pacific region, it is considered that the Cretaceous extensional activity of Hefei Basin in the south of Tanlu fault zone occurred under the dynamic background of back-arc tension, and the evolution of the extension direction is the result of the movement direction change of the ocean plate in the western Pacific region.
