Fault zone generally includes narrow fault core and broad damage zone，which plays an important role in petrophysics，hydraulics，fluid and permeability in the Earth crust. Together with the outcrop and subsurface data，the carbonate fault core is divided into three types：granular support，matrix support and cementation support；and the carbonate damage zone is divided into damaged zone and fracture zone. These subtype architectures show varied assemblages，and different permeability profiles in the carbonate fault damage zones. Together with the well data and seismic data，the envelope of the wide fault damage zones can be identified in the subsurface carbonate rocks. The displacement-width scaling is a signature of the carbonate fault damage zone growth. A variety of complex architecture，multistage structural diagenesis and non-Andersonian mechanism may be responsible for the multiple stages and modes growth of carbonate fault damage zones，which are also primary research directions in carbonate fault damage zones.
