The geological characteristics of the structure, deposition, geothermal gradient, reservoir-cap assemblage, diagenesis-porosity evolution history in the starting and adjacent zone of Xiong'an new area are synthetically analyzed, and the accumulation pattern and influence factors of geothermal resources in the study area are summarized. The difference of material base in the Middle and Upper Proterozoic carbonate rocks during the geothermal reservoir sedimentary period and the evolution characteristics of the later Yanshan-Himalayan tectonic movement control the characteristics of the geothermal reservoir; cover layer and channel combination in the study area, especially the faults structure of the study area is the controlling factor of the uplift, erosion and karstification of the carbonate strata, and it controls the distribution of karst development zone and the overall situation of karst palaeogeomorphology in the study area. The Middle and Upper Proterozoic carbonate rock facies are characterized by the development of algal reef shoal and algal flat, and the main types of karstification are quasi syngenetic, interlayer buried-hill and fault related karst, whose transverse distribution is controlled by the highland of the ancient denudation geomorphology, and which has the zoning characteristics in the longitudinal direction and is controlled by the submerged surface. The main constructive diagenesis for the geothermal reservoir is dissolution and structural fracturing. The wellhead water temperature of Wumishan Formation is mostly 50 ℃～60 ℃; the hot water discharge is mostly 80～140 m3/h; and the salinity is mostly between 1 900～3 100 mg/L. The atmospheric precipitation, mainly from the foot of the Taihang Mountain, is transported to the favorable sedimentary facies zone through fracture and unconformity of the Middle and Upper Proterozoic carbonate strata in the protruding structural units, such as the uplifts and the buried hills, and heated by the earth deep heat flow under the normal heat flow background during the migration and reservoir process. Finally, the geothermal water accumulates and forms a geothermal field with exploration and development value at the positive structural units, such as the uplifts and the buried hills. And the fault zone of positive structural unit usually develops the most target reservoir in the geothermal field.
