In order to obtain the tectonic property and evolution at the south margin of Junggar Basin during Triassic and Permian, the authors make close study about the geometry and kinematics of T/P unconformity and sedimentary cycles in Xiaoquzi anticline at the southern margin of Junggar Basin. The T/P unconformity is a syn-tectonic unconformity with the characteristics of erosion at the top of middle Permian and overlapping at the Lower Triassic, which was caused by the rapid uplifting of Xiaoquzi area during Late Permian to Early Triassic. Through deciphering the deep structure at Xiaoquzi anticline, we found that the Late Permian to Early Triassic compressional tectonic environment has much close relationship with inversion of the Early Carboniferous extensional structure.
