Guangrao buried hill is a typical weathering crust of Lower Paleozoic in the southern margin of Dongying depression. Guangrao buried hill is characterized by the large hydrocarbon—bearing scale and complex hydrocarbon accumulation regularity. Based on a large number of drilling，logging and hydrocarbon test data，characteristics of differential erosion and its control effects on hydrocarbon accumulation regularities are recognized under the exploration practice in Guangrao buried hill. The rock mass structure is badly wakened by lithologic members with high shale contentand the inner faults of buried hill. The weathering crust of the Lower Paleozoic experiences sharply differential erosion in the studying area. Rapid erosion always occurs around the lithologic members with high shale content and along the inner faults. The erosion valley related to lithologic members is easily filled with massive clay，and good barriers are formed on lateral hydrocarbon migration along the ancient weathering crust；The erosion valley related to the inner fault has no regional barrier effect on lateral hydrocarbon migration，but obviously controls independent hydrocarbon accumulation of many buried hills. Therefore，the Lower Paleozoic differential erosion controls the hydrocarbon accumulation laws in the studying area，which has a very good referential value in the buried hill studying field.
