A lot of diabase dikes outcrop in the Paleoproterozoic Duweituwei granite from the west part of Tiekelike area， South Tarim. Geochemical analysis showed the diabase from EMI mantle source region occurred in an intracontinental rift environment. LA—ICP—MS U—Pb zircon isotopic age was 408.5±7.3 Ma， which belongs to Early Devonian. Combined with a series of Early Paleozoic granitic rock in West Kunlun orogenic belt， the formation of the diabase indicated that the closing time of the original Tethys should be earlier than the Early Devonian and represented the ending of the former Tethys tectonic cycle. This study will provides new information for exploring the tectonic evolution of the southern margin of the Early Paleozoic Tarim.
