The volcanic reservoirs are deep-buried, high-temperature, high-pressure, low-porosity, low-permeability, and high-heterogeneity in the Xujiaweizi fault depression, Songliao Basin. In order to predict the volcanic reservoir types and quality transversally, the main controlling geological factors of the porosity and permeability of the volcanic reservoirs were discussed. As the results show, the physical properties of volcanic reservoirs are mainly controlled by the volcanic facies or volcanic facies group, and the diagenetic stages the volcanic reservoirs located in. The longer distances from the volcanic facies group to the volcanic vents are, the lower porosity and permeability of the volcanic reservoirs in the volcanic facies group are. Diagenesis has a dominant influence on the porosity and permeability of volcanic reservoirs, and most commercial gas reservoirs have been found in the diagenetic stages before period A of late diagenetic stage and a only few stripper wells are located in period B of late diagenetic stage. Taking the integrated influences of volcanic facies and diagenesis on the volcanic reservoir quality into consideration, predicting diagenetic stages by diagenetic numerical modeling software, and overlying the volcanic facies maps on the predicted diagenetic stage maps, the quality and types of volcanic reservoirs were predicted. As the well testing data show, current industrial gas wells are mainly developed in the reservoirs of typeⅡ and type Ⅲ in the middle part of the depression.
