Geological features of MOR-type ophiolitic peridotites

Mantle peridotites,originated from sub-continental,sub-arc or sub-ridge mantle lithosphere,commonly occur in orogenic belts as Alpine-type peridotites or members of ophiolites through tectonic emplacement,or exist in the volcanic rocks as xenoliths.In this paper,we compared the petrological,geochemical,isotopic characteristics of the mantle peridotites from four MOR-type ophiolite candidates with those of abyssal peridotites.As a consequence,we believe that a comparison in geological characteristics with abyssal peridotites could be an effective way in distinguishing MOR-type peridotites as well as restoring the tectonic settings of MOR-type ophiolites.
